Please join us for the Pie & Muffin Baking Extravaganza at Camp Bothin, November 21-23, 2025. Baked goods will be delivered to various non-profit organizations that serve food to many homeless or low income families/persons. Who can participate: Volunteers of all ages, families and friends. All adult volunteers who work in the commercial kitchen must have the California Food Handler Certificate (affordable and easily obtained online). We must have enough adult chaperones for a safety-wise ratio of adults to children, and we are asking all groups with more than 4 children participating to bring one extra adult to help with the program or in the kitchen. Tagalongs (brothers and little sisters who are not members but “tag along” to Girl Scout events) and friends under age 18 who are not yet Girl Scouts, are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult registered with the girl scouts. Ms. Gaycia will sew free aprons for adult volunteers who stay two nights and for every Girl Scout who brings a parent or guardian, and her adult companion, who stay two nights, and participate in at least 4 pie baking sessions. What: “Extreme Pie Baking”! We ask each “baker” to make the first set of pies from the ground up, and then form an assembly line to make pies together in a team of 8, with each baker adding one ingredient, to assemble the pies quickly. We hope to meet or exceed our record donation of 4000+ individual serving pies and muffins, but it’s all about helping others, enjoying Camp Bothin, and the camaraderie of working together. If you plan to sleep over, please sign up and let us know about the size of your party and the nights you plan on staying over ASAP. This will help us effectively manage sleeping arrangements sooner. Daisies and Brownies must have an adult chaperone. Any male identifying persons (ie Dads, brothers, or uncles) will have a separate sleeping area in staff row. COMMUNITY KAPERS: For each shift we ask that the scouts or the adult(s) of each troop help with a kaper to keep the dining room and bathroom clean, organized and safe for everyone (sweeping, monitoring trash disposal, etc). Dinners and breakfasts will be provided only for those sleeping over. Lunch will be provided to those who work both the morning and afternoon pie baking sessions on Saturday. When: Friday-Sunday November 21-23. We will have the following baking sessions: Friday night 6:00-9:00 p.m. (if folks are donating pumpkins this is the session for them as Friday night is bake down pumpkins night) Saturday morning, 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday afternoon 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday evening, 7:00 to 10 p.m., Sunday morning (loading pies and delivering to non-profits) 9:00 a.m.-12 noon. Please sign up on the attached form so we can “be prepared” for the number of helpers. Where: Camp Bothin is located at 3125 Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Fairfield, CA 94930 How much? $25.00 per person for “day only” helpers, whether participating in one session or more. $50.00 per person for everyone staying overnight (whether one night or two) includes all meals, accommodations and activities. Custom Patches will be available for purchase at the event ($3 each) Patch for Early Bird Sign-up Patch for General Participation Patch for Night Owl Pie Baking Please donate. Our biggest need is for donations of ingredients to make 4000 pies and muffins. When you turn in your reservation, we will send a list of what donations are most needed. To make traditional Thanksgiving Pies, we need donations of pumpkins. We can also make pies from your donated winter squash, sweet potatoes or yams, or other fruits.
